Miscellaneous Revolutionary Items
Some tantalizing tidbits of the kinds of items from our collection.
Jefferson County Soldiers

This Revolutionary monument in Dandridge was erected in 1930 in memory of the Revolutionary Soldiers buried there. Don't let the name confuse you. This is, as you can read, the site of the original Old Hopewell Presbyterian Church, at the corner of East Main and Graveyard Alley - for a map online look up 'Harris Cemetery.' Today's Hopewell Cemetery is just a stone's throw north, up the hill, on Hopewell Street.

Anderson County Soldiers

This, in front of the courthouse in Clinton, is one section of a large monument dedicated to Anderson County soldiers of all wars.

Click on the image for a large, readable version.
David Hall (whose name is on the above monument) is buried in his family cemetery in the shadow of TVA's Bull Run Steam Plant, in the Claxton community.

Don't mix up the David Halls! For details on this one see pension S1823.
A nearby cabin, on the property and likely built by him, has been lovingly restored and is periodically open for visitors. I took these pictures in ----.

To see on online maps, enter '830 Old Edgemoor Ln., Clinton, TN.' This cabin is the metal-roofed structure closest the road; the cemetery in the trees to the west.

There's I believe 13 Revolutionary Soldiers buried in the Eusebia Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

See the Blount County page for photos of their markers.
